Moggy has the simplest way. Check your current needs, if an off the shelf won't work, find a commercial electrical supply and they will have them in the few hundred watts to several KW range. . will handle the load..hope this helps.Gene . ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 15:59:21 GMT From: nesesu@my-deja.com Subject: 110 volts how to? Figure the load current, and what drop you need, then get a 'filament' transformer of that rating and hook it up to buck the line voltage. For example, lets say the line is 125V and the load is a radio taking 1.5A. You need to drop 15V at 1.5A, so get a 12 to 15v at 2A transformer. Connect the primary across the line in the usual manner, and connect the secondary in series with the line to the set. You must correctly 'phase' the secondary so it subtracts from the line voltage. Simply connect it up and measure the output. If it is 140V it is phased wrong. Reverse the two secondary leads and you should see 110V. There are more tricks you can do to fine tune it, but this is the basics. Neil S.
