The SPC-10 is essentially a HQ-180 without the RF/1stIF. Simply pick up an old, ugly HQ-170 or HQ-180 and pop out the 3.055mHz mixer tube and feed the SP-600 455kHz into the HQ-1x0 IF chain. Out on 'the Bay' one can find a rough HQ-170 for less than $100, which is cheaper than $250-300 for the SPC-10..... Too big for the bench you say? Take a hack saw to it and remove all the RF junk ;^) 73 bill n4alg ---------------------------------------------------------- Bill Cotter, N4ALG E-mail: bcotter@pop.uky.edu 173 Carolyn Lane Home: (606) 887-5563,2402 Nicholasville, KY 40356-9340 Work: (606) 323-6474 ARRL ARCI #9878 QRPl #1646 QCWA #29393 FISTS #4535 Collins R-390A '55 S/N: 633 EAC R-390A '67 S/N: 3669 Philco R-392 '59 S/N:167 HQ-180 '69 S/N: 2409 ---------------------------------------------------------- --- Submissions hammarlund@qth.net ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
